It's Spring!

Hello!  I'm here with a few "spring" coloured cards today.

This card was made using the packaging from the paperpack for Jillibean Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup.  I love that I was able to make a card from something that would normally be thrown out :)  I discovered a challenge to use "something recycled" at Scrap It Girl and Frosted Designs --- what a great idea!

I haven't yet made a layout with this paper ... but I can't wait ... it is so pretty and fresh!  (I am definitely going to scrap with it at the ScrapMuch? retreat this weekend.)

You can't go wrong with a simple card with some ribbon tied around it and a beautiful flower embellishment ...

OK, I know this is a birthday card ... but these colours (from the My Mind's Eye Lime Twist collection) still reminded me of spring!

Thanks for visiting!

Simplicity ...

I'm here with a few cards that are a little more "simple" than I usually create :) ... Little Red Wagon has a "Clean & Simple" Challenge posted, so I thought I'd play along ...

A simple cupcake birthday card ...

... a simple robot card ...

And a simple monster card!

Rainbow Button Cards

Who Loves Rainbows?
I have always loved playing around with bright colours ... and what better way to do that than with a rainbow???  My 6 yr old niece noted recently that the last few cards I had given her were made from the same collection (... pretty pink cards embellished with purses, castles etc.) ... so I thought I'd try making something different that she might like!

Little Red Wagon posted a challenge to use clouds in a project and The Joyful Stamper has an "anything goes" challenge posted ... so I decided today was the right time to share the following cards!
I thought that the cloudy sky paper from the MME Lime Twist collection made for a great backdrop!

I love this white/sheer polka dotted ribbon from Bazzil --- I try to use it on as many things as I can :)

I used some really strong glue to hold down these buttons ... trust me, they are not falling off anytime soon!

And a rainbow shaped card ... I used my cuttle bug to emboss the clouds (that I free-handed) ... and used a border punch to create the layered grass effect.

Normally I ink almost everything in a pinecone colour ... but today I branched out and used a silver on these clouds ... rubbing a bit on the embossed part so that the pattern was more obvious!

Snug As A Bug -- A Grid Challenge

I had fun this weekend playing with a Frosted Designs challenge to use a "grid" in a project...
This is a great way to use a whole bunch of photos in a one page layout!

This layout showcases some photos of my niece looking at herself in the mirror and laughing ... (so cute!)

I've used bits of patterned paper from MME Lime Twist collection ... yeah for bright colours!

Gotta love the bug theme ... a perfect chance to embellish with a cute lil' snail!

I chose the "green theme" as the walls in the room are actually a light lime green and so the background complimented the photos.

And of course ... I made some cards with my scraps!

Oh ... I love green!  My favourite colour ...

Playing Along With Lets Get Sketchy!

I enjoyed playing along with this week's Lets Get Sketchy Challenge #4 ... I liked the simplicity of the sketch and loved how it really focuses on the photo!

This is my take on the sketch --- I used a close-up sepia photo of my friend Gill as the focal point on the photo ... I love how the photo is the "main" attraction on the layout :)

For the first part of the title I used some mini alphas and a bit of glossy accents to give them some dimension.  I mixed up a "lacy" Maya Road flower with some metallic accents and punched a circle flower out of one of the patterned papers for embellishment.

In the top left corner I added another punched flower and part of a gigantic metallic eyelet ... notice how the Glossy Accents on the flower adds that extra touch!

And of course ... I created a few cards with my scraps!

I thought this metallic Birthday strip added a nice touch to this card.

And here is a card that I made for my Grandfather ... I accidentally punched a dent into the bottom right gromlet ... but I don't think my Grandpa would mind!

Thanks for dropping by ... come again tomorrow for more creations!

Card Challenge Creations ...

Today I'm sharing some cards made with BoBunny's Gabrielle collection, all of which were designed with various card challenges in mind.

BoBunny has posted a card challenge where you need to create a card with a banner.
This is the card that I created ...

To keep with the neutral theme of the card I used some natural twine (instead of a ribbon accent) - and used pearl brads to add the bling effect.

Love My Tapes had a Lace! challenge posted ... and so I made use of the BoBunny lace to create this pretty card.

I used various strips of scrap paper to create the layered punch effect and used pop dots to give dimension to some of the strips.

CRAFT Challenge posted a challenge to use handmade flowers in a project.  I created the following card and created the flowers with paper punches, using large eyelets in the flower centres.
The butterfly was cut out of one of the sheets of paper and I used a combination of Stickles and Glossy Accents to "glam it up."

Some "Campy" Cards and good cottage memories ...

Today I'm sharing some creations that I made a month or so ago using the American Crafts Campy Trails collection ...

Lately I've been on a kick where I've been "mixing" up the font/lettering in my titles ... like this one below ... it's an easy way to make your title that little bit more interesting :)

I used brown floss, eyelets and large brads to create the effect that various pieces of the layout were being tied down ...

And of course I made some cards with my scraps ...

We gave this card to my Dad for his birthday ... we lived on a farm while I was growing up ... so we knew he'd appreciate the skunk humor :)

I used a mixture of the chipboard strips and the 'vinyl' type embellishments to create this horizon -- add a little bit of matching ribbon from the collection and ta-da!

Another colourful and outdoorsy card ...  the fox bit is actually a sticker that I stuck to cardstock, cut around and then popped up for dimension.

Birthday Time!

Hello! I thought I'd share a few birthday cards with you today!
The paper and die-cuts are from a My Mind's Eye birthday collection.

I used Stickles on the cupcakes below to give the icing that extra kick! Mmmmmm ... cupcakes ...

I was able to pull this card together super quick --- thanks to the die-cut banners and party hat!  I love the bright colours ... (especially the green ... my favourite colour :)

I liked the subdued but classy colours on these cutouts ...I accented the card with some pearls to keep it more on the "elegant" side.

More creations with Little Yellow Bicycle ...

Hello!!!  I'm back with a layout and some cards from the oh so beautiful and easy to work with Paradise collection from Little Yellow Bicycle.  My favourite Scrapbook store ScrapMuch? is carrying this in store now!

This layout showcases my niece Zoe.  You'll notice that I didn't use too much paper ... as I loved the background sheet and didn't want to completely cover it up!

I chose one of the cut-outs for my title ... keeping it simple and ensuring that my photo is the focal point (not the title:)

I thought this embellishment was really unique... it took me a while to decide on which reason from the "10 reasons to get LOST with you" to choose ... but I finally decided on "wild and free"... although "you make me laugh" and "I love you" almost made the cut :)

This tree was part of the design on the background paper, and in order to add some extra oomph, I used glossy accents on the leaves to make them shiny and give the tree some texture -- an easy way to spruce up the tree (haha).

... and as always, I made some cards with my scraps.  You'll notice that I have used one of my corner chompers to make the shape of the card that little bit more interesting ...

... and of course I managed to sneak my 3 jewel/pearl signature onto both cards!

My first digital stamp ...

This is a momentous occasion!!! For the first time ever, I have used a digital stamp!  At first I wasn't really sure when I saw that Lets Get Sketchy! had posted an impromptu card challenge where we were required to use a Kenny K digital stamp --- but I went to his site and saw that there were a few "pre-coloured" stamps for those of us that are copic-ally challenge :)  --- It was perfect, I was able to download an image and print it on a colour printer.  I had a lot of fun!

This image was titled "Super Mom" ... I thought it made a really cute card image!  I kept things really simple, as I wanted to make sure that the image was the focus of the card.

I used my cuttlebug to create some textured "corners" and added some purple ribbon, a button and pearls for embellishments.

My friend Laura Whitaker does amazing work with digital stamps --- you should check out her recent creations!

A little bit of Bird Paradise

I thought I'd share an altered item with you today ... I created a little birdhouse decoration with Little Yellow Bicycle's Paradise collection.

I bought the following wooden birdhouse shape at Dollarama for $2 (I know, I'm a big spender :).  I am constantly keeping my eye out for things that could be turned into altered items ... and this was perfect!

You can see that I extended the paper below the birdhouse in order to give it more shape (and more room for my embellishments).   I created the roofing by punching circles and folding them across the top, then running one of the stickers along the sides.

I used various chipboard and felt embellishments, along with some hemp twine, and created this cute cluster.  The heart pins add that little bit "extra" :)

I also added a little bird in the sky to balance out my embellishments.

Thanks for stopping in today!
Be sure to come back tomorrow to see more creations!
